Proctor students help Andover Rec Committee clean up skate park and put away the ice rink on April 14.

 

Attendance:
Alan Hanscom, Brian Reynolds, Ali Schaefer, Abi Webster, Tom Franz, Heidi Murphy, Scott Allenby, Stephanie Bendixsen

Agenda:
Review and approval of March 2018 Minutes: All voted to approve

Treasurer’s Report:
Printed sheet for each program distributed by Alan
Fees to ICB for basketball season paid out of the revolving fund on January 17, 2018
Alan Hanscom confirming cost and payment of storage shed at town ice rink.

Winter Sport Recap:
Final ICB basketball meeting next Tuesday evening – Scott Allenby will report back via email.
Ski Program – Stephanie and Ali checking with Sue about payment to Ragged and working on transition of program leadership for next year.
Looking at increase of fees for all programs next year, but especially ski program due to increase of cost on Ragged Mountain’s part.

Mountain Biking Program Update:
Planning on running a summer program and Drew Donaldson will report at next month’s meeting with details.

Swim Program Update:
Desire by some in the community to offer swim lessons at Highland Lake. Stephanie reaching out to Town of Franklin to see if there is someone who might be willing to share teaching responsibilities.
Tom checking with the YMCA in Concord to see if they have recommendations.

Ice Rink/Skate Park Update:
Taking down rink Saturday April 14 morning at 9:00 am
Scott Allenby bringing kids over from Proctor to help for a few hours and will also demolish the rotted half tipe at the skate park with the help of Drew Donaldson. Potential service opportunity in May to paint the ice rink building.

Soccer Program Update:
Signup update for the summer in parent newsletter at AEMS right after April vacation

Building Update:
Steve Barton interested in helping finish the building as continued donation of time. Committee approved Steve to continue with this project as soon as possible.
Additional conversation brought to the table: concerns about the effect the snow pack will have down by the field- snow drains onto field and is a significant problem.

Participation Costs:
Current Fees:
$35 per child, $30 for second child, not to exceed $100 for a family.
Grade K-2 program: $10 per child to cover insurance costs.
Recommendation to keep costs the same until we hear from ICB for basketball and Ragged about program cost increases for next year.

New Business:
Proposal to have an Andover Recreation T-Shirt / Sweatshirt – look at online store options – customizable – Scott putting note in Beacon for community to submit – Ali and Stephanie grabbing form and putting in AEMS newsletter.
