Each year the Andover Historical Society organizes a fundraising raffle, the proceeds of which help defray the everyday expenses of running the museum in Potter Place. The Society is responsible for the care of five historical buildings (and their contents) which must be diligently watched over, and kept in good repair. It is also the caretaker of a freight car and caboose, the latter of which is in drastic need of repair. Plans are in the works to “Save Our Caboose.” Your help is needed!
Following the success of last year’s raffle, the Society will once again be doing a lottery ticket raffle, made up of $100 worth of New Hampshire lottery scratch tickets. There are 38 tickets in all: 6 @ $5, 11 @ $3, 16 @ $2, and 5 @ $1.
Tickets are $5 each, and will be on sale at the Emons Store in Potter Place during regular museum hours beginning Memorial Day Weekend. The museum is open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM, and on Sundays from 12:30 to 3 PM. Tickets will also be on sale at Andover’s Fourth of July celebration, and at the Old Time Fair on Sunday, August 4. Tickets can also be purchased from Society members, or by contacting Rita Norander at 934-5397.
The winning ticket will be drawn at the Old Time Fair, and the winner does not need to be present to win. Last year’s winner won almost $200. This year’s winner could win much, much more. That winner could be you!
