Mark your calendars!

The Andover Historical Society (AHS) announces the following schedule of public events beginning in May and continuing through mid-October. All are free and open to the public.  For more information about the Society, go to www.andoverhistory.org.

Saturday, May 4: Indoor spring clean-up, 9 AM-noon, at the Potter Place Railroad Station Museum and J. C. Emons store.  All welcome to lend a hand.

Saturday, May 11: Outdoor spring clean-up, 9 AM-noon, at railroad station grounds in Potter Place.  All welcome to lend a hand.

Saturday, May 25: AHS museum sites — the Potter Place Railroad Station and Museum, and the J.C. Emons General Store and Post Office, both in the village of Potter Place — open to the public on weekends through mid-October.  Exhibit features Andover’s covered bridges. Saturdays 10 AM-3 PM, Sundays 12:30 PM-3 PM.

Saturday, May 25: AHS sale of works of celebrated N.H. artist Annaleida van’t Hoff (1909-1997), and items donated to AHS, begins and continues on Saturdays through mid-October, 10AM-3 PM. in the Gordon-Lull House, Potter Place.  See separate article in this issue.

Sunday, June 9: AHS Tucker Mountain Schoolhouse open to the public on second Sunday of the month through October, 1-3 PM.

Thursday, June 20:  AHS Living History presentation by Michael Francis as Galileo Galilei, “The Starry Messenger.” 7 PM, Stone Chapel, Andover.  A program of N.H. Humanities to Go.

Thursday, July 4: Pop-up exhibit of AHS historical artifacts opens at The Andover Community Hub, 157 Main Street.  Art works by Annaleida van’t Hoff also offered for sale at The Hub

Wednesday, July 10:  “Researching Your Old House,” a workshop by Andrew Cushing of the N.H. Preservation Alliance.  7 PM, Stone Chapel, Andover Village. Co-sponsored by the AHS and The Andover Community Hub.

Sunday, August 4: AHS Old Time Fair with flea market, crafts, demonstrations, hand-car rides, games, food, live music and entertainment.  On museum grounds in Potter Place. 9 AM-2 PM.
