Spring Birding at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center

Press Release

There are an estimated 45 million bird watchers in the United States. Are you curious to learn about the birds you see in your backyard? Have you caught a fleeting glimpse of a bird flitting from tree to tree? Have you heard beautiful bird songs but don’t know what kind of birds make them? Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and Squam Lakes Conservation Society are collaborating to answer these questions with a series of beginning bird identification programs called Spring Birding.

Under the guidance of Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Executive Director Iain MacLeod, participants will seek out the huge variety of birds that fill the woods, meadows, and wetlands each spring. Participants will explore a variety of habitats in the Lakes Region looking for birds while learning identification by sight and sound.

Spring Birding is Fridays, May 17, 24, 31, and June 7 from 7 to 10 AM. and is geared for adults and youth age 14 and older. Participants may come to one or all sessions. This cost is $12 per session for members of Squam Lakes Natural Science Center or Squam Lakes Conservation Society and $15 for others. Advance registration is requested and available online at nhnature.org or by calling 603-968-7194 x 7.
