Andover 4th of July 2019

Preparation and Announcements

Press Release

We’re down to the wire! Andover’s 4th of July Committee is working hard to complete all the pre-event tasks. Be it a business, a nonprofit or a private citizen, please consider taking part in the parade by entering a float (Don’t forget! The theme is Sports.), riding a bicycle…you name it.

To highlight some of the activities we’ll have this year:
Trolley train for little kids will be back by popular demand.
Don’t forget the 5K race in the morning and softball games in afternoon.
Be sure to start the day at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at the elementary school.

Before you head to the Green, stop out behind the school for a demonstration with love oxen, headed by Mariah Haley. Watch in amazement as the trainers put the oxen through their paces until parade time.

Be sure to get a program or a flier which contains the schedule for the day!

In the unlikely event that the celebration is cancelled due to inclement weather, we have a rain date scheduled for Saturday, July 6th. This will include vendors on the Green, and parade float entries are welcomed to gather in the AE/MS parking lot by noon for judging. Remember! The Grand Prize is $250! Other prizes will also be awarded.

Last month we named some of our special sponsors and we would like to thank some more now:  Andrews Construction, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, and Weathercheck Roofing.

The names of the sponsors and their categories, Gold, Silver & Bronze, will be shown on two banners; one will be carried in the parade and the other will be on display on the Green. Be sure to check these out!

Let’s stop and think for a minute about why we are able to put on such a wonderful event. If you think hard, you will come to the realization that it’s because of those who have gone to war for our great country. Please take a moment to thank them. Be sure to attend the flag raising at 10 AM on the Green by the American Legion Post 101, the Pledge of Allegiance by the Girl Scouts and the National Anthem sung by Margo Coolidge.
