Historical Coffeehouse Comes to Andover

Friday, August 9

Press Release

Come enjoy music at Andover’s first Historical Coffeehouse on Friday August 9 at 7 PM in the Andover HUB (next to Andover Pizza Chef).

The Andover Historical Society invites members of the public to share songs at this unamplified “open mic” night. At 6 PM, people are invited to arrive to socialize, and sign-up to perform an acoustic set of up to 2 songs. The music performance begins at 7 PM.  We will listen and share music just as people did in the 1800s–live and without a sound system.

The event will be led by Historical Society trustee and former president Jesse Schust (who also serves as an MC at many of the Andover Community Coffeehouse events).

Andover’s historical exhibit in the HUB will be specially opened from 5–7 PM on the evening of the coffeehouse to allow visitors a chance to see this summer’s temporary Pop-Up Museum created by the Andover Historical Society. This exhibit focuses on several themes including Baseball in Andover (1890-1960) and Andover’s citizens who served in WWI and WWII. It features a functioning wind-up record player, antique furnishings, and a wide variety of enlarged photographs and maps from Andover.

Please note–this event is not a part of the Andover Community Coffeehouse series (which takes a break for July and August).

The Historical Coffeehouse will be held in an air conditioned space, so conditions will be more comfortable for visitors than they would have been in the 1800’s.
