This August, Huntoon Farm will join over 100 partners throughout the state to highlight New Hampshire Eat Local Month — a month-long celebration of local food and New Hampshire farmers and food producers.  Increased interest in local food benefits us all by positively affecting the health of the economy, communities, and environment.

“New Hampshire residents and visitors, alike, are showing unprecedented interest in local food, and this month-long celebration offers a great opportunity to feature New Hampshire grown foods and farms,” said Gail McWilliam Jellie from the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food.

New Hampshire Eat Local Month also coincides with National Farmers’ Market Week, honoring
markets all across America. The celebration also includes a virtual scavenger hunt, buy local campaign, story sharing from farmers and businesses, and events hosted by New Hampshire Eat Local Month partners.

As part of the New Hampshire Eat Local Month festivities, Huntoon Farm will offer a barbeque at the farm on August 17 and August 25.  Come anytime between noon and 2 PM for a farm grown meal and a chance to connect with the Sprague and Huntoon Family. The meal features their grass fed and grass finished burger, corn on the cob and fixings from the farm’s garden, plus homemade rolls, dessert, and a beverage, from their commercial farm kitchen.   Reservations suggested. The price is $15 per person.  

Donna Sprague, 4th generation owner of Huntoon farm notes that being a regular farm customer, even if the purchase is small, keeps your local farms in business.  And, for this month, she urges everyone to begin locally sourcing just one or two of their grocery items.
