August 4 brought a beautiful day for the 31st annual Old Time Fair at the Potter Place Historical Society. Pat Cutter worked tirelessly for countless hours organizing the flea market. This year’s fixed price furniture sales in the freight shed reaped good profits for the society. A big thank you goes out to all the donors of the flea market items. This generosity enables the society to continue to support and maintain its many buildings and projects.
Long-time members Ed and Mary Hiller (Ed is a past president) continue to work the fair, and the Ragged Mountain Band generously donated their time and talents, along with Chuck Will and Roland Dupuis. The Lions Club also supports the fair with the loan of tents and grills (thanks to Jim Danforth and Ron Evans), and Spunk Ford helped steer the various food carts, the Roundhouse Boxcar, old machines, and others to a good and productive location. Many thanks to everyone who donated baked goods and plants, which yielded a good sum.
Marie Nardino won this year’s raffle and Susan Norris earns huge praise for a record-breaking round of participation in the children’s games. The society would like to thank all the volunteers for the hours of hard work that results in such a great community-building event. We saw many happy reunions and smiling children!
