Art Class, Monthly Art Salon Offered at The Hub

Saturday, October 12, 6-7:30 PM

Press Release
Local artist Molly Leith will be leading a new “Art Salon” at the Andover Community Hub beginning in October.

Beginning and professional artists are invited to share their work and creativity, as well as learn new skills, at two art-related events organized by Andover artist Molly Leith and planned for The Andover Community Hub in October.

The Hub will sponsor an ongoing monthly “Art Salon at the Hub,” an artists’ gathering organized by Leith to be launched on Saturday, October 12, 6-7:30 p.m.  Designed to foster community, creativity and to connect area artists, participants are asked to bring their own work and materials to this open-space gathering.  The monthly salon will provide an opportunity for both beginning and professional artists to share their work with one another for honest feedback. All are welcome and the gathering is free, with a suggested donation of $5 to benefit The Hub.

In addition, Leith will teach a five-week art class for beginning and intermediate students, beginning Friday, October 11, 6-8 p.m. and continuing on the four following Fridays.  Students in this series will develop their observational skills by drawing from life, learn to analyze composition and value, and begin to understand how to render objects in space.  Shading techniques using graphite, ink, charcoal and acrylic on canvas will also be explored in a class designed to be engaging and fun.

The fee is $125 and most supplies will be provided.  Potential students are asked to email mollyleith@nullme.com or call 510.847.6248 to register, with any questions, and to learn what additional supplies they should bring to the first class.

The Hub is located at 157 Main Street.  Contact TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com with any questions, ideas or to be added to the ongoing Hub email list to be kept posted on future programming.
