Baltimore-Based Nick and Luke to Perform at Coffeehouse

Featured act at “Third Friday” concert on November 15

Press Release

Coming to town “with a love for traditional music and honest songwriting presented with the spontaneity of jazz and the reckless abandon of rock music,” Baltimore-based  singer-songwriter-guitarists Nick and Luke will be the featured act at the November 15 “Third Friday” concert at The Andover Community Coffeehouse. There, they’ll share the spotlight with up to a dozen open-microphone performers.

Music by the duo begins at 7 PM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall, located at the intersection of Chase Hill Road and Route 11 in East Andover.  Doors to the Grange Hall open at 6 PM for simple supper food and beverage purchases, and for open mic sign-ups on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission is free, although the hat will be passed, and donations – which are shared with the featured performers – are gratefully accepted.  The sponsor for October’s concert is Ragged View Farm on Bradley Lake Road, known for their maple syrup, pork and grass-fed beef, and offering horse-drawn sleigh rides in season.

Known for offering a “combination of Americana-rooted original music, jazz standards and the bluegrass/old-time liturgy,” Nicholas Horner and Lucas Chohany are said to offer “a musical language all their own.  Their performances ebb and flow to create a playful blend of the visceral and the virtuosic.” For more information, and to sample their stylings, go to www.nickandlukemusic.com.

The duo will lead off with a half-hour set and return around 9 PM to close out the evening.  In between, local musicians and spoken-word performers will each get ten minutes in the spotlight during the open-mic segment.

Coming up: Headliner for the December 21 “Third Friday” event will be New Hampshire’s own Steve Schuch, classically-trained-violinist-turned-singer/songwriter-guitarist-author-storyteller.  Much more at nightheron.com. Don’t miss this one.
