April is National Poetry Day at the Wilmot Public Library

Watch for updates about cancellations due to COVID-19

Press release

The Wilmot Public Library has two special poetry programs planned.

On Thursday, April 16 at 7 PM, please join us for An Evening of Jane Kenyon’s Poetry. Local children’s author and friend of Jane, Mary Lyn Ray, will share personal stories of their friendship. Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite poem of Jane’s to share. Mary Lyn will also give us an update on the preservation of Jane’s former home, Eagle Pond Farm.

On Thursday, April 23, at 7 PM the library will hold a participatory poetry workshop Exquisite Corpse/Word Chips, a collaborative poetry game that traces its roots to the Parisian Surrealistic Movement. Exquisite Corpse is played by several people, each of whom writes a word on a sheet of paper, folds the paper to conceal it, and passes it on to the next player for his or her contribution. Bring your creative muse and enjoy an evening of fun.

On Saturday, April 18 at 1 PM we have rescheduled a Tarot Reading Workshop with Sally Cragin.  Sally will bring extra decks — or bring your own — to teach participants how to read the cards.

These programs/dates are tentative and may be rescheduled or canceled depending upon the status of the COVID-19 flu situation. Please visit the library website at ?? for updates.

All programs are held at the library, 11 North Wilmot Road, and are free and open to the public. If you have any questions, please contact Glynis Hart, library director, at 526-2804 or WilmotLibrary@nullcomcast.net.
