Customer Appreciation on May 17, 5:30 to 7:30

Press release

As part of its 2013 Customer Appreciation Event, RP Johnson and Son is hosting a Cruize-In Night at its Millwork Showcase in Andover on Friday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Customers can enjoy free food, vendor displays and demos, do-it-yourself tips, raffles, give-away prizes and the CarNutz of Newport car show. Proceeds from the event will benefit David’s House in Hanover and RP Johnson and Son’s “We Build It Forward” Community Outreach Program.

Customers can visit vendor booths to learn about TimberTech decking, Benjamin Moore paints, Allan Block and Belgard Pavers, Everlast Roofing, tools, and more. Local vendors – including Floorcraft, Nutritionally Yours, a Mary Kay consultant, an interior designer, and more – will be on hand to pamper the women, give demonstrations, and answer questions.

The Carnutz Car Club

The Carnutz Car Club was started by Wayne Boardman and Merle Sargent in the spring of 2007. They both had experiences good and bad with car clubs over the years. So they agreed, why not give it a shot? The first meeting was held, officers were elected, and some ground rules were set. Their plan is first and foremost to enjoy their cars and trucks!

David’s House

David’s House is the dream of a little boy named David Cyr who passed away in 1984 after a long struggle with acute lymphocytic leukemia.

During David’s frequent visits to the children’s hospital in Hanover, his father Dick met many parents who slept in their cars or in chairs in their child’s hospital room, unable to afford any length of stay at a nearby hotel and unwilling to leave their child’s side. Likewise, each time David was discharged, he begged his parents to take the other kids in the pediatric departments with them to their safe, comfortable home in nearby Vermont.

Within a week of David’s passing, the Cyrs and their friends and family had already begun raising money for David’s House. The seed money from which this wonderful organization has grown was David’s own $300.78 (in spare change, allowances, and birthday money stashed around the house). Whenever Dick had asked him what he was saving for, David replied, “For a special reason, Dad.” David’s House opened its doors to guests in 1986, and since then, that “special reason” has served over 12,000 families from around the world!

We Build It Forward

On June 15, 2013, RP Johnson and Son is holding its third annual “We Build It Forward” Community Outreach Program (WBIF). Teams of people will head out into the community to take on their We Build It Forward projects. The projects may take the shape of yard cleanups, weatherizing a house, small renovation projects, or painting. To sign up as a volunteer or to submit a project request, visit RPJohnsons.com or WeBuildItForward.com, or call Sue Johnson at 735-2116 for more information.
