Franklin Community Day Brings Fair, Parade, and More

The Ninth Annual Choose Franklin Community Day will be held on Saturday, May 11, rain or shine. This year’s event will take place at Odell Park, located on Memorial Street in downtown Franklin.

Activities will begin at 10 AM on Saturday when booths, games, and food concessions open for the day. The Squam Lake Natural Science Center will present New Hampshire Wildlife shows at noon and 1:30 at the Proulx Center – shows are free courtesy of Franklin Savings Bank! The Laser Tag/amusement area will also open at 10 AM. Prices for the area are as follows: Laser Tag: $5 for half-hour sessions; Amusements area – including bounce house, giant slide, and more: $10 for an all-day wristband or $1 per ticket; Spin Art: $2. This area is partially sponsored by The Community Bridges Family Support Council and Members First Credit Union.

This year’s parade/event theme is “Volunteers – The Heart of the Community”. The parade will step off at Franklin High School at 10 AM and proceed easterly on Central Street to Smith Street where it will turn and continue to Odell Park.

The fair continues from 10 AM to 3 PM and will include games, craft booths, food vendors, and entertainment. Many area service organizations and businesses will participate with raffles, giveaways, etc.

Entertainment includes White Tiger Karate demonstrations at 11:30 and 1:30; yoga demonstrations/class by Riversong Yoga at 11 AM and 1 PM, Jim Barnes, Balladeer at Noon and the Rodney Pitman Magic Show at 2:15 PM. The Franklin Elks Lodge will present awards to the winners of their Drug Awareness Essay and Poster contests at 2 PM.

Pricing for amusements: Laser Tag: $5 for half hour session Spin Art: $2

Inflatables: $10 for an all day wristband or $1 for individual tickets
