For the 27th year, Proctor’s Ocean Classroom will set sail aboard a 135-foot historic tall ship on a term-long, nine week voyage along the eastern seaboard with a final destination of Puerto Rico.

While Ocean Classroom 2020 will look slightly different than years past, a rigorous testing and quarantining protocol allowed the ship and its crew of 21 students, alongside a professional crew from the World Ocean School, to launch from Boston Harbor on September 17.

While aboard the schooner Roseway, students will study marine biology, navigation, and maritime literature and work full-time to crew the ship into multiple port stops along the way.

Andover’s Katie Bent ‘21 joins New London’s Jasper Redican ‘21 and Franklin’s Jacob Allison ‘21 as the three local students taking part in the program this fall.
