Dan Newton – Candidate for School Board

By Dan Newton

When I received an email from the Beacon asking for a candidate profile, I wondered what I would write. I could say that I grew up in Andover and went to school here, and that I have children attending school here now.

That would be the main reason why I decided to run for School Board. I have also been very concerned with the hybrid learning model; I wanted to do what I could to facilitate a return to a more normal school year. That is why I was glad to hear of the Board’s recent decision to offer kids a four-day in-person school week.

I realize the Board has had to make a lot of difficult decisions, but unless you have kids going through the current learning process, it’s hard to understand the effects this model has had on their education and mental well-being.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if you vote for me, I will do what I can to always put the education and well-being of the children of Andover first and foremost, while also weighing each decision on how it affects the taxpayers. Thank you for your consideration.
