Hub Offers Return of Favorite Pre-Pandemic Events

Paint and Sip, Crafts, Knitting Circle

Press release

A favorite pre-pandemic Andover Community Hub event, Paint and Sip, returns on Friday, October 1, and again on Friday, November 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. A chance to sip a glass of wine, grab a paintbrush, and give one’s creative side free rein, Paint and Sip is a sociable and fun evening under the guidance of Andover artist Molly Leith.

Molly holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art and teaches in the Art Department at Proctor Academy. She’ll guide participants through beginners’ concepts in color theory, composition, and paint application, and encourage individual expression and exploration. Each participant will produce his or her own piece of “fun art,” using a well-known work of art for inspiration, and learn a bit in the process.

Paint and Sip is limited to 10 participants, and advance registration is necessary.  The fee of $25 includes wine, soda, snacks, and art supplies.  To register, contact TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com. Payment can be mailed to The Andover Hub, PO Box 157, Andover NH 03216, or dropped through the mail slot by the Hub’s front door.

Knitting Circle

The informal evening Knitting Circle that met at the Hub pre-pandemic is also returning, with the somewhat broader focus of “the fiber arts.”  But the emphasis remains the same – mainly just for fun and offering a chance to chat with other crafters and artists while working on one’s own knitting, crocheting, needle felting, or sewing project.

The group will meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM starting Tuesday, September 28, and welcomes those at all levels, whether just learning or those who love to practice their craft and might like to share some tips with others.

Participants are also welcome to pick up some new yarn, fabric, needles, and perhaps some other supplies in The Closet, a self-serve space at the Hub intended to find new uses for donated craft supplies that might otherwise end up in the landfill. Participants can help themselves in the second-floor space any time the Hub is open and leave a small donation if they wish.

A beginning quilting class at the Hub is also in the planning stages, with date and time yet to be determined. Keep an eye on the Hub’s Facebook page and website to learn more, or drop in at the Hub’s Open House on Sunday, September 19, to chat with Paula Higgins, who will be teaching the class.
