Kathy Anderson Scholarship

Kathy Anderson, the wife of former NHEC President/CEO Fred Anderson, passed away in 2010 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Kathy was a lifelong learner and spent years studying nights at the dining room table, often with help from her two children, to earn her degree from Marywood University in her early 40s.

Kathy was active in her community, volunteering at school and serving as a member of the PTA. Kathy cared about her community, she cared about her friends, and, most of all, she cared for her family.

To honor her legacy of caring, the Kathy Anderson Scholarship will award one female adult learner who seeks to better her life through education, a scholarship in the amount $2,500.

To apply, the student must be a female over the age of 25 as of December 31 of the award year, a US citizen, and an NHEC member. The student must be enrolled at least part-time during any term or semester in an undergraduate or master’s program at an educational institution as defined by the Internal Revenue Code (Bachelors, Associates, or certificate program) at the time of application.

The deadline for applications to be received is July 8 for awards made in late August.
Please use the application form at NHEC.com/kathy-anderson-scholarship.  Transcript(s) must be mailed separately to the address referenced at the end of the scholarship application.
