Fire Department Makes Plans for Fourth of July; Snow Cones and Kayak Tickets

Annual BBQ on July 30 in East Andover

By Rene Lefebvre

I think that many of us had no idea how much COVID-19 would change our daily lives. We know that we needed to do what was necessary to help each other and get this behind us. Though not necessarily gone, we do feel it is safe to come out and enjoy our freedom again.

What better way to re-energize our spirit of freedom than by celebrating our Independence Day? In Andover, as in all across America, celebrating the Fourth of July is a day to feel good about being an American and honoring all those who sacrificed everything for our nation.

The Independence Day celebration gives the firefighters a chance to come together with our families and have fun. We will have our tent set up on the Village Green and will be selling snow cones and kayak tickets. The guys purchased a very nice kayak again this year.

We plan to have popcorn and soft drinks in front of the Fire Station.  Cold drinking water will be available at the tent, so stop and visit your fire department, get hydrated, and have a great time.

We will have first aid equipment at our tent should you be feeling a little off, and if necessary we will air condition the Fire Station meeting room to provide a cool place to rest if it is a hot day.

Chicken Barbecue

On Saturday, July 30, we will be holding our annual Chicken Barbecue at the East Andover Fire Station. We are planning our usual fare of chicken, potato salads, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, and yummy desserts. Enjoy your meal at one of our picnic tables, or take out will be available.

At 7 PM we will raffle off the kayak. We also have something new this year. Belletetes Home Center donated a Blackstone 28 inch, 2 burner griddle for a fundraiser. The team will likely sell chances and hold a raffle on the night of the barbecue. Many thanks to Belletetes for this great donation.

The Andover Fourth of July celebration takes a lot of work by a very dedicated team. We thank them.  See you on the Green!
