Louise Andrus’s View from Concord – October 2022

Please take the time to vote on November 8

By Louise Andrus

Have you ever thought about what it would be like if our “right to vote” was ever taken away from us?  Could that realistically ever happen?  I am not saying it would ever happen.  Rather the question is something to think about.  To me, voting is one of the most important rights of an American citizen.  On November 8 is the General Election.  Please take the time and vote.  The Polling hours and locations will be posted in your town.

After reading the letters in the Beacon critiquing my writings, I have come to the conclusion that being a Conservative is definitely a positive attribute.  In my opinion, those that are critiquing me state that I have an excellent and model platform.  Thank you so much to all those with opinion letters as I truly appreciate them.

During this campaign season I have spent a few hours at each of the towns’ (Andover, Danbury, Hill, Salisbury, Webster) transfer stations. It is mind boggling how much trash we have and as our towns grow, what will we eventually do with it? I believe the time will come that the disposing of trash will be an issue.

In this campaign season I have noticed the blossoming out of more and more political  “Pacs” (Political Action Committee) by both parties. It appears money is not an issue.  It is my opinion that we need to pass a law to reign in how much money these  Pacs can receive in monies in any given election.

Friday, November 11, 2022 is Veterans Day.  Do you know its origin?  At the end of World War I the fighting ended with the signing of an armistice.  This was done in the 11th month and on the 11th day in 1918.  The first Armistice Day was commemorated for the first time on November 11, 2019.  Thank you to all of those who have served and to those who currently serve in our Military.  Thank you to the families of our service members as you have sacrificed, or are sacrificing, by giving your service member to protect and keep the United States of America free.  There aren’t enough words to express the gratitude I hold in my heart for each and every Veteran.  God Bless!
