Relay for Life Hopes for a Cancer Cure

Walk on June 7 and 8 to help support Cancer survivors

Press release

My Reason to Relay

My name is Michaela Trefethen, and on June 7 and 8 I’ll be walking non-stop at the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee Relay For Life in support of my friend, Tyler Graf, who is currently battling leukemia. Many of you may know Tyler as the former captain of athletic teams at Proctor Academy, as a member of the National Honor Society, or as the person who always steps up to help others in need. I know Tyler as all of these things, but also as one of my close friends. When I found out that Tyler had been diagnosed with cancer, I knew supporting him through Relay For Life was something I really wanted to do. I gathered up a group of friends and our team was formed. Tyler’s Titans will be at the Relay on June 7 and 8. We hope you will join us and help us show Tyler and other cancer survivors that they do not fight this battle alone.

Relay for Life is a wonderful event that allows people to form new bonds, make new friends, relate to what others are going through, sometimes to help heal, but most of all, it is to show that we all believe there is hope of finding a cure for cancer and creating a world with more birthdays!

This year’s Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee Relay For Life will take place at the Kearsarge Regional High School beginning Friday evening, June 7 at 6 PM, and continue through the night until noon on Saturday. Teams will set up camp along the track, and team members will take turns walking continuously through the night.

Friday evening highlights include:

6 PM- Opening ceremonies, survivor/caregiver lap

7 PM- Kids Kick Cancer lap – enjoy ice cream and games for the kids!

9 PM- The lights go down and luminaria, each dedicated to celebrate a survivor or remember a loved one lost, will light the track.

11 PM- Pajamas and Pizza!

A DJ will entertain all night long. There will be a new theme, and games to play each hour. Zumba, massages, and The East Bay Jazz Ensemble are just a few of the activities planned.

It’s not too late to form a team, and you do not need to be on a team to attend. Come join us as we celebrate the lives of those who are survivors, remember loved ones who we’ve lost to cancer, and to fight back against this awful disease! Relay is how we choose to make a difference.
