A new line of custom model tack and accessories for model horses is being produced locally by 13-year-old student and equestrian Rette Solomon and her company, R. Solly Productions. “I’ve always had my own model horses and had seen how other people had made tack for them, so I wanted to try it myself. I started last December and have spent six months perfecting my designs.” Rette’s creations include bridles, halters, blankets, and even leather saddles. Custom

orders, including specific colors, ribbon trim, and monogramming are also available.

Solomon has been riding since she was eight years old and currently rides at Seery Hill in Andover. “That is where I get most of my ideas for tack,” says Rette. “I can get a really good look at the tack and how it works when I clean it.”

Solomon’s work can be seen at The Tack Room, located in The Constant Quilter building on Route 11 in Andover. The Tack Room, an equestrian consignment shop opened last summer, has a vast array of horse-related items from saddles, bridles, and apparel to model horses and horse curiosities.

Much of the inventory consists of donations to New Hampshire’s three non-profit horse rescues: Becky’s Gift, Live and Let Live Farm, and NHSPCA. One hundred percent of sale proceeds go directly back to the rescues in support of their efforts. Twenty percent of Solomon’s sales will go to support these organizations as well.
