As I write this article, visions of fall leaves and apple picking are far from my mind. The windows are open and a warm breeze is blowing through. It’s 80 degrees out, and the scent of sunscreen fills the classroom.

Outside my “office” window, the sun is shining and the sound of laughter fills the air. Our youngest summer campers are splashing in the small pools, squirting each other with plastic toys and dumping buckets of cool water on their heads as they yell with delight. The constant giggles and laughter are never far from my ears (one of the many, many reasons I love life here at Imagination Inn).

Summer continues as we wrap up our final week of summer, exploring the world of animals during our Animal Planet Week. Though the weather report has forecasted a wonderful warm summer week ahead, the calendar hanging on my office wall is a clear reminder that our time in the sprinklers, our summertime outdoor adventures, our bathing suits, and our sunscreen will soon be packed away as we welcome the cooler nights, stuffed backpacks, and falling leaves.

September always brings changes as we say goodbye to some of our friends and welcome many new ones.

We are thrilled to introduce and welcome Vanessa Welch to our staff and family here at Imagination Inn. Vanessa lives in Andover with her husband and three children. I have had the privilege of knowing Vanessa for many years, as our paths crossed many times both here in Andover and in our circle as educators. Vanessa brings her years of education, experience, her warm heart, and endless love for children to our Infant/Toddler classroom.

Jocelyn Tanner enjoyed her work-study with our Preschool Pandas this past spring. She graduated from Cobleskill University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and has joined our staff as our new Afterschool Adventurer Teacher. Jocelyn has been busy this summer getting to know our classrooms and our newest group of Afterschool Adventurers. We are so excited to welcome them both to our family.

We continue to be blessed with our amazing staff and family here at Imagination Inn as we welcome the 2013-2014 school year. Our Back to School Open House will just be the beginning of a wonderful, new fun-filled year ahead.

The weeks ahead will be filled with shiny new lunch boxes and filled backpacks. We will be welcoming new friends and smiling faces. Our classrooms will be decorated with birth dates, new cubby hooks, and nametags.

Outside our windows the leaves will begin to change and the scent of simmering applesauce will fill the school as we celebrate the start of another great year meeting new friends, learning new things, and creating new memories.

Here’s to another great year at the Inn!
