People - Deaths - 130826 VaughnCelenia E. (Lewis) Vaughn, 88, of Farmington, New York, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was born in Whitefield, New Hampshire on December 29, 1924 the daughter of Walter A. and Esther (LaMott) Lewis. She resided in New York for the past four years, previously living in the Wilmot/Springfield area for most of her life.

Celenia spent her lifetime as a caregiver. She worked at The Clough Center in New London for 22 years and then for Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, retiring in 2003. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, attending the Fairport South Congregation in Victor, New York.

Celenia was strong in her faith and what she believed and spent a great deal of time studying the Bible. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and crossword puzzles.

She married Eugene F. Vaughn in 1944, and he died in 1991. She was also predeceased by two sons, David M. Vaughn and Walter A. Vaughn. Members of her family surviving include five children, Bruce E. Vaughn and his fiance, Gail of Claremont, Barbara Hayes of Farmington, New York, Rebecca M. and her husband, Roland Defosses of Wilmot, Timothy R. and his wife, Brenda Vaughn of Charlestown, and Jeanne V. and her husband, Chris Barrett of Andover; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Carpenter of Claremont, and Winona Brisson of Whitefield; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.
