The Andover Eagles middle school soccer team has begun its season with a lot of fun and excitement. “We have a very strong team culture, with beginners and seasoned players showing up every single day because they love soccer,” states Coach Amy Makechnie.

We are very lucky to have Coach Makechnie returning to lead the team for another season. She has developed a great program based on sportsmanship and skills. Coach Makechnie continues to stress team work and hustle when playing the great game of soccer.

The Eagles traveled for their first game of the season to Merrimack Valley Middle School. MV came out with a great game plan. Playing one- or two-touch passing and moving the ball up the field was just too much for the Eagles to defend against.

The Eagles kept their heads up and came out in the second half ready to step it up. But in the end, the first half lead was hard to overcome, and the Eagles took home a 6-1 loss.

The Eagles had their second game against Kearsarge Middle School. The score was pretty even throughout the game, with Kearsarge leading at half-time. The Eagles kept their heads up. They would not let the score be a factor in how they played.

At the end of the game, the score was 4 to 2. The Eagles rallied together in the second half to gain a victory.

The third game of the season was an away game, traveling to play Kearsarge. The game was filled with end-to-end action. Neither team was willing to give an inch, pushing themselves to when the final whistle blew. The game ended with a 1-1 tie. With a lot of great defense and passing, both teams were evenly matched. It truly was an exciting game to watch.

With the season under way, please check out AEMSeagles.org for updates, schedules, and field directions. Come out and support your Andover Eagles as they have another great year out on the soccer pitch.
