People - Deaths - 131015 CallRichard “Buzz” Call, of North Sutton, passed away on October 15, 2013 at the White River Junction, Vermont Veterans Administration Hospital surrounded by family.

He was born on March 28, 1933, the son of Shirley S. and Annie M. (Quimby) Call in Sutton, where he continued to live most of his life. Buzz was a well-known mason working for his father but was self employed for the majority of his career.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He loved the outdoors, particularly enjoying hunting, fishing, and beekeeping. He taught Hunter Safety courses and was a former president of the Andover Fish and Game Club and an honorary member of the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department. He was also the building inspector for the Town of Sutton from 1993 to the present.

Many people will remember Buzz for his pig and beef roasts and his woodworking talents making toys and games.

Members of his family surviving include his son and his wife, Scott A. and Lori Call of Wilmot; two daughters, Jennifer A. Call of North Sutton and Merredith Paul of Pennsylvania; his sister and her husband, Betty and Charles Whittemore of South Sutton; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 11 AM in the North Sutton Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow at the North Sutton Fire Station.
