Two Andover Ski Jump Champions Honored by New Hampshire House

In August, Nick Fairall of Andover, Nick Alexander of Lebanon, and Chris Lamb of Andover finished first, second, and third respectively in the Large Hill US Ski Jumping Championship at Park City, Utah. Alexander and Fairall followed that with first and second place finishes at the Normal Hill Championship at Lake Placid, New York in October.

These three Granite State champions were recognized for their achievements on November 7, at the start of the New Hampshire House’s Special Session.

House Speaker Terie Norelli released the following statement:

“These three young men continue New Hampshire’s long, rich history of ski jumping. We commend them for all the hard work they have put in and wish them continued success on the road to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.”

Let it be known that the New Hampshire House of Representatives, on this very special occasion, publicly does recognize and does grant its hearty and sincere congratulations to Nicholas Fairall

WHEREAS, New Hampshire has a long, rich history of ski jumping and is the only state in the nation to sanction ski jumping at the high school level; and,

WHEREAS, Nick Fairall began ski jumping at the age of six at the Andover Outing Club in Andover, New Hampshire; and,

WHEREAS, Nick Fairall has dedicated himself to his ski jumping career, from a team member at Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire to the US National Ski Jumping Team, where he has established himself as one of the country’s most successful ski jumpers; and,

WHEREAS, Nick Fairall won his first­ever National title by winning the 2013 US Ski Jumping Large Hill National Championship on August 4, 2013 in Park City, Utah and placed second at the 2013 US Ski Jumping Normal Hill National Championship on October 13, 2013 in Lake Placid, New York; now therefore be it

DECLARED, that the New Hampshire House of Representatives, by virtue of the Speaker’s signature inscribed below, extends its highest accolades and plaudits to Nicholas Fairall for his exemplary athletic achievements and offers its very best wishes at the upcoming Olympic Trials, the 2014 Winter Olympics, and for a long, healthy, and successful career.
