EAVP summer school camp is coming

By Elizabeth Janvrin and Carmen Bates, EAVP

Summer is on its way! Have you thought about what your child or children will be doing?

East Andover Village Preschool offers a summer camp program with half-day, day, or week options. We have weekly themes such as Secret Agents Week, Shark Week, and Blasting Off to Outer Space. Each day we enjoy water play outside, along with geocaching, gardening, and weekly trips. For more information, please contact the school at 735-5105 or EAVP@nulltds.net.

At the beginning of March, we celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday through a variety of activities based on his works. We used our feet to paint with, practiced letter and number recognition as we “hopped on pop,” and made our own Seussical art.

We also explored hearing, identifying and making our own rhymes. As March has continued, we have been creating our own sticker stories, pattern block pictures, and making our own colors to create and paint with.

Eric and Heide Johnson were very inviting and engaging on our field trip to the Tucker Mountain Maple Sugar house. Our Friday group enjoyed a field trip and watched a tree get tapped before learning how the sap is made into syrup, which we all agreed smells delicious! Thank you, Eric and Heide, for opening up your business to us!

The most egg-citing news at the preschool is that our incubator has been turned on! This has been a successful and very rewarding experiment in past years, and Ms. Carmen is very egg-cited to be doing this again. We have 13 eggs of various species in our incubator, and eight show promising growth already. Every day the group counts down and checks in on the eggs. Make way for ducks, born with love from the East Andover Village Preschool children!

The month of March brought a great night out for adults as we supported the preschool at Muse Paint Bar in Manchester. As we showcased our own creative and artistic talents, we enjoyed laughter and wonderful conversations.

In April, we will be doing our traditional fundraiser, our Hop-a-Thon. The children put on their bunny faces and ears and see how many hops they can do in a minute. The children are looking for sponsors. You can either do per-hop or a set amount. When the hopping is done, a healthy treat is enjoyed, and the children are rewarded for their hard work.

Preschool enrollment has begun for our 2014-2015 school year. To set up a visit or to receive more information, contact Elizabeth at 735-5105 or EAVP@nulltds.net.
