New London Hospital (NLH) is pleased to announce that Harold Pikus, MD from Upper Valley Neurology and Neurosurgery (UVNN) will begin seeing patients at NLH in June. Dr. Pikus will be performing neurological surgery including brain, spinal, neck, and low back surgery as well as peripheral nerve procedures.
“We are seeing an increased need for neurosurgical care in our communities,” commented New London Hospital Chief Medical Officer James Murphy, MD. “Dr. Pikus will be a great addition to the team, and we are very excited that he will be joining us at NLH.”
Prior to joining UVNN, Dr. Pikus was the Chief of Neurosurgery and the Medical Director of Radiosurgery at Doctors Hospital in Florida. He holds a bachelors degree in physics from McGill University in Canada and earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Dr. Pikus completed his surgical internship and his neurosurgical residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He then went on to complete his fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida.
