The softball season is off to a great start. We have three Andover Girls Softball teams this year.
Our U10 girls, the Andover Slammers, tied their first game this season against Winnisquam. After a slow start, they have come out strong with six great wins! Our biggest struggle is sharing pitching time, with most of the girls wanting to get in on the action. We are lucky to have so many who are willing to give it a try in the circle. Our bats are swinging, with lots of singles, doubles, triples, and a few home runs!
Our U8 girls, the Andover Stingers, have also been having a great season. They have one win, one tie, and two losses. We are working on hitting, pitching, and fielding. We have three veterans from last year helping show all the new girls the fun of the game.
Our t-ball team is full of energy. Bringing three-to-six-year-olds onto a softball diamond can be lots of fun. Their faces light up when the ball comes their way. We are focusing on hitting, with the coach pitching to the girls.
We are always looking for new girls and parents to get involved in our sport. If you are interested, do not hesitate to get in touch with us at any time of the year. Our numbers have gotten smaller in the middle school level, and we would love for more to girls to come out and play. All of our teams have beginners as well as girls who have been playing a long time, so don’t be shy: Come out and play!
We are having a softball tournament on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, at Andover Elementary/Middle School’s Corson Field and at Howard George Field in Blackwater Park. The U10 and U8 teams will each be battling for first place in their division. We have five other teams coming in both divisions. It will be a fun weekend with lots of softball, and our concession stand will be running. Come out and enjoy the day with us!
