Franklin Hospital Receives Patient Safety Award

One of just two in the state

Press release

Franklin Regional Hospital (FRH) recently received a 2014 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award. FRH is one of only two hospitals in the state of New Hampshire to receive this recognition. Only 381 hospitals out of 4,729 evaluated are recognized with the Patient Safety Excellence Award.

This distinction recognizes the top 10% of hospitals as leaders in patient safety based upon the analysis of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHQR) patient safety indicators.

From 2010 to 2012, there were 266,813 serious, potentially preventable patient safety events among Medicare patients in US hospitals. The Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award recognizes hospitals that have the lowest occurrences of 13 serious, potentially preventable complications and adverse events during a patient’s hospital stay.

Healthgrades consumer information includes hospital patient safety performance outcomes for 13 indicators of patient safety developed by tAHQR. It also includes information on more than 900,000 physicians in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
