The Wilmot Community Association’s (WCA) second annual Imagination into Art event, held June 27 and 28, drew rave reviews from attendees and artists alike. More than 150 people attended the two-day event that featured the works of nearly 20 local artists, including Tom Barber, Jay Koron, and Holly Noyes of Andover.
“What a lovely time we had at Imagination into Art! Congrats to all,” said Lindy Heim of Wilmot. “I so look forward to this particular event, which shows off Wilmot’s artsy side and is so much fun. The food was divine, and everyone looked like they were having fun.”
Volunteers, including Ann Davis, Margaret Doody, Mary Fanelli, Tom Hauck, Pam Ilg, Patty McGoldrick, Margaret and John Monto, Nancy Schlosser and Tom Schamberg, ensured the event’s success.
“We were very pleased to host a show that featured so many local artists,” said Judy Hauck, WCA board member and organizer of Imagination into Art.
Artists from Andover, Danbury, Newbury, New London, Springfield, and Wilmot included Tom Barber, Dick Chase, Kristen Ash Chertikhin, Vlad Chertikhin, Caroline Fairless, Sue Finney, Jane Gold, Zack Jonas, Ann Feeley Kieffer, Jay Koron, Nancee Leach, David Lorden, Terry Moore, Ciara Morin, Holly Noyes, Myrl Phelps, Steve and Sue Russell, Nancy Schlosser, and Lynn Solomon.
“The atmosphere was very relaxed,” said one artist. “It was nice not to worry about sales and instead concentrate on sharing information with others about the art we love.”
The WCA, which was established in 1963, owns and operates the Red Barn, a facility with a function room, commercial kitchen, and meeting room on Village Road in Wilmot. A private preschool, the Wilmot Learning Place, is a tenant on the lower level of the Red Barn. The WCA also owns and operates the Timothy Patten Park, where local community members enjoy summer recreational activities.
Activities sponsored by the WCA include the Black Fly Blitz, the Pie Breakfast, Harvest Home Luncheon, Scarecrow Decorating Contest, Halloween trick or treating for children, the annual holiday craft fair, and the Wilmot Express.
