The Center for the Arts (CFA) announces its “Auction for the Arts” to benefit the arts in the Lake Sunapee region. This online auction of fine artwork by award winning artists will begin on Thursday, August 14, and culminate at the CFA Members Reception on Thursday, August 28, at the Lake Sunapee Protective Association’s (LSPA) Knowlton House in Sunapee Harbor.

Anyone can “Bid” or “Buy Now” through Wednesday, August 27. The final bidding will take place at the CFA Member’s Reception on the evening of August 28. If people are not yet members but are interested in attending the Members Reception, they can join for just $25 at the door, online at CenterForTheArtsNH.org , or by mailing their name, address, e-mail, and check to The Center for the Arts, PO Box 872, New London 03257.
“This is the first fundraiser the CFA has hosted in three years,” says Jean Connolly, chair of the CFA. “We are thrilled to have had so many award-winning artists donate works to the auction. I think people will agree that these pieces of art are outstanding! We live in a very creative community, and the residents and artists alike have been very supportive of our mission.”
Donated artwork in the auction includes works from Andover residents Larry Chase, Barbara Hunting, and Lisa Jelleme, as well as works by Marian Biron, Debbie Campbell, Jean Cronin Connolly, Grace Cooper, Betsy Craumer, Elizabeth D’Amico, Betsy Derrick, Joan Eaton, Wolfgang Ertl, Grant Hacking, Ryan Kelley, Jim Lambert, Lori Lohstoeter, Tom Pirozzoli, Sheila Psaledas, David Tibbetts, Roger Wells, and Tatiana Yavonskaya-Sink.
The Center for the Arts has been providing support to the local creative community for many years by coordinating and publicizing arts events throughout the area, hosting First Fridays and Micro Gallery exhibits, publishing a cultural e-calendar, and providing scholarships to aspiring artists, performers, and writers.
In 2015, the CFA plans to expand its programs by offering classes and workshops and by providing meeting, event, and additional exhibit space to artists, arts organizations, and art associations in its new home at Whipple Hall in New London.
