New Hampshire’s economy has lagged behind neighboring New England states for the past decade. Excessive spending and Obamacare recently forced the Governor to call for $30 million in spending cuts, and a $40 million gap in the Health and Human Services budget was revealed. Now we are moving in the direction of a sales or income tax. That is unacceptable.
After serving 28 years in the US Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Colonel, I headed two major New Hampshire companies. As the CEO of BAE Systems in Nashua, I was responsible for managing a budget nearly three times the size of New Hampshire’s. But not only do I have the experience to bring good-paying jobs to the state, I have a plan.
My 8.15.17 plan will bring 25,000 jobs to New Hampshire by August 15, 2017. The first step is to cut the cost of creating jobs by reducing the tax burden on businesses, which is among the highest in the nation. Through two budget cycles, I will reduce the business profits tax from 8.4% to 7.4%. I’ll also make it easier to fill jobs by coordinating education to meet the needs of the workforce. It is imperative that we promote STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics); something I’ve advocated for years, serving as Chair of the Manchester-based non-profit FIRST. Lastly, I’ll defend school choice and New Hampshire’s Scholarship Tax Credit Programs. I know we can put New Hampshire back on the right track, and I ask for your vote on November 4.
