Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! It’s hard to believe we are already into November.

October was filled with autumn and Halloween fun. We hunted for leaves, pine cones, and searched for acorns. We made bird feeders out of the pine cones, counted the acorns, and had a friendly competition. The buckets were placed outside where we could observe the squirrels and chipmunks. Whichever group had their bucket emptied first won the competition.

We followed up by making squirrels to hang up around the Annex house and took some pictures. The kids really enjoyed this.

We also had our traditional Halloween pumpkin hunt. Once a child found their pumpkin, they exchanged it for a goody bag. We also had special snacks and homemade ice cream sandwiches.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our Midland fundraiser. We sold holiday gift wrap and miscellaneous items for Christmas.

I would also like to thank the Reynolds family for volunteering their time at AASP encouraging outdoor activities. After coaching AE/MS cross country, they offered to expose our after school kids to some of the activities and games they play during cross country practice. We have recess every day until 4:15, and they graciously offered to spend some time with our kids, helping to promote exercise and good sportsmanship. We will be continuing this until the snow falls.

We here at the Annex wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for all your support.
