East Andover Village Preschool, November 2014

Spaghetti Supper and Raffle on November 22

Press release

Thank you Firefighter Tim, Firefighter Stu, and Paramedic Greg for a wonderful trip to the East Andover Fire Station! We enjoyed learning about the fire truck, the fire equipment, and the ambulance. Along with a trip to the Fire Station, our preschool group went to Carter Hill Apple Orchards for a trip to learn about apples and to have the opportunity to cook with them.

With our picked apples, we asked ourselves the question, “Do all apples have seeds?” We searched for the answer as we cut open the apples to prepare them for making applesauce and eating them raw. We found that all of the apples we picked did in fact have seeds and found the shape of the star on the inside.

Once we ate some of our applesauce for a few snack times, we cooked the applesauce down more to make apple butter and apple leather. Comparisons were made of each apple product as we completed a graph of which we preferred best.

Castles continued to be a focus in our classroom as we took an in-depth look at actual castles around the world. As we looked at the pictures, we noticed that there were tapestries, frescoes, and chandeliers; each we created for our own castle space. With the progression of our castle discussions, we created our own castle stories and read fairy tales. In our Dramatic Play area, props have been added which allow us to act out and add our own details to the familiar fairy tales of The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Thank you to all in the community who joined us at our Harvest Bake Sale and Pumpkin Sale on October 10 and 11!

We will be hosting our annual Spaghetti Supper and Raffle in the AE/MS gym on Saturday, November 22, from 5 to 7 PM. We hope to see all of you there!
