East Andover Village Preschool, December 2014

Elizabeth Janvrin, EAVP

It is hard to believe that we are headed into the holiday season of 2014 already.

East Andover Village Preschool kicked off the holiday season by inviting our grandparents for our annual Grandparent Gingerbread event. All of the houses looked delicious, and it is always special to spend that time with members of our family. Thank you for taking the time to come visit with us!

As the months of November and December, along with the holiday season, get underway, the children and families have been invited to share their special traditions with us. We are excited to learn and hear about all of the special things each family does to celebrate the holidays.

Before heading on winter holiday, our class will be participating in our own special annual tradition of having the special town Santa join us for our holiday event. It is always so special to see the children’s faces when he walks in the door!

In the month of November, we invited all of our families into the school for a special family event. The classroom had many prompts and invitations for the families to engage with the materials, as our children do. The children really seemed to enjoy “teaching” their family members.

As we have been discussing and exploring recycling in our classroom, we have brought in some other items labeled as “beautiful stuff” to use in sorting, investigating, and creating with. The materials have included bits of wire, buttons, yogurt containers, and many more” beautiful” items. Each child has had the opportunity to create a decoration individually or as a group, and these have been used as table decorations at our annual Spaghetti/Raffle Dinner.

Thank you to all who joined us at the event! We hope that you had a great time, as much as we did!

EAVP would like to wish our families and the Andover community a happy and healthy holiday season!
