FNRT Presents Golden Spike Award to Howard Jelleme

Howard Jelleme was presented a Golden Spike Award, the highest honor given to a volunteer, by the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail in Merrimack County (FNRT) at the organization's recent annual Self-Congratulatory Dinner at the Highland Lake Inn in East Andover. Howard, who has helped clear overgrowth from around historical objects along many sections of the trail, most recently removed railroad ties and debris hindering the resurfacing of the newest section of the rail trail leading to its Boscawen terminus near the Hannah Dustin park-and-ride. FNRT is grateful to all the volunteers who have made it possible to complete trail building over the last 10 years and looks forward to adding amenities, maintaining the rail trail surface, and promoting the use of this exceptional 58-mile recreational resource.
