Board Chairperson’s Report: Michelle stated that she thought that the recent meeting with the Andover Budget Committee went well. It was helpful for them to have the information in advance of the discussion.
Old Business
Policies – Second Reading: IGE – Parental Objections to Specific Course Material: All were in favor and the policy was approved. JKAA – Use of Restraints and Seclusion: All were in favor and the policy was approved. JLCJ – Concussions and Head Injuries: All were in favor and the policy was approved.
Transportation Contract: Robin presented the final bids for both of the transportation proposals. Mark H. moved to accept the First Student contract bid for $1,720,145 and Anne made the second. All were in favor and the budget was passed.
New Business
2015-2016 Budget: Robin presented an updated warrant article regarding a proposed transportation study. Mark M. spoke of the consultative process. The study can be funded out of this year’s budget, taking the money from the fund balance, since the facility study was less than the proposed figure.
Mark H. moved to recommend a proposed budget of $4,729,464 to the Andover Budget Committee for the 2015-2016 school year. Anne made the second. All were in favor and the motion was approved.
2015-2016 Draft Calendar: Jane presented a draft calendar for the upcoming school year. Several factors and options were considered. Further discussion is warranted regarding utilizing the AE/MS building for Town elections while school is in session due to security concerns.
Anne moved to recommend the proposed calendar for the 2015-2016 school year. Misty made the second. All were in favor and the calendar was approved.
Superintendent’s Report: Mark M. stated that the meeting with the Budget Committee was very positive and agreed that having the information in advance was helpful. He spoke of the efforts involved with the transportation contract and of the beneficial results. He commended those around the table for all of their hard work.
