Andover Service Club Plans Bake Sale for Voting Day

Proceeds benefit scholarship fund

By Mary Ofenloch, ASC president

The Andover Service Club (ASC) met on February 11 in the Highland Lake Grange Hall. The meeting included committee reports, discussions on ways to better serve the community, refreshments, and the special program for February – Game Day – which included bingo and card or board games.

Town Meeting day is Tuesday, March 10, and ASC will again be selling homemade baked goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, and rolls, as well as coffee and tea. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the ASC Merit Scholarship Fund and community organizations. The hours of the sale are 11 AM until 7 PM, or until all baked goods are sold.

The next meeting of ASC is Wednesday, March 11 at 10 AM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall. After business reports and refreshments, the program will be a discussion and review of the books members have recently read. This is always informative and fun for all who enjoy reading.

The ASC Scholarship Committee has begun the annual preparation for the awarding of merit scholarships to high school or continuing education students who are applying to college. Students must be Andover residents, or the child or grandchild of an ASC member. Applications may be obtained at the Thrift Shop on School Street; at MVHS; or at Proctor Academy.

The ASC Thrift Shop is the major source of income for our fundraising activities. During the month of March, all donated clothing will be on sale at 50% off. There is an excellent selection of men’s clothes, boots, and shoes, as well as a large selection of women’s and children’s clothes, accessories, and beautiful jewelry. Come and browse – you may find something lovely to wear or to give as a gift. Clothes are almost new or gently used, and prices are very affordable. Store hours are 10 AM to 4 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday.

Ladies – why not come to a meeting to see what ASC is all about? We need new faces with new ideas. E-mail Mary Ofenloch at MaryO.ASClub@nulllive.com for more information.
