It was a beautiful sunny and warm day last March 11 when the Andover Service Club (ASC) met at the Highland Lake Grange Hall for its monthly meeting. Reports from the Treasurer, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, as well as committee chairladies were read and accepted.

The Fundraising chairlady reported on the success of the Bake Sale on Town Meeting Day. New ideas for raising funds were suggested, as income needed to continue the mission of ASC has been less than previous years when the economy was doing well and people could afford to donate time and money for good causes.

Applications for the ASC Merit Scholarship are now available at the ASC Thrift Shop, at Proctor Academy, and at MVHS. Any child or grandchild of an ASC member or resident of Andover who will be attending college continuing their college education may apply. The application form is available at AndoverBeacon.com/ASC-Scholarship.

If you are looking to enhance your wardrobe, why not shop at the ASC Thrift Shop, where almost new and/or gently used articles are very reasonably priced? Proceeds from sales are used to fund the Merit Scholarship program and to support local community organizations.

On Wednesday, April 8, ASC will meet again at the Highland Lake Grange Hall at 10 AM. At the conclusion of the business reports, refreshments will be served and a special program will be presented. The April program is the annual in-house auction of “treasures” donated by the members.

The ladies of ASC wish to express our gratitude to everyone who supported the events and sales which were sponsored by ASC. We could not fulfill our mission without your help. ASC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means donations are tax deductible.

The ladies of ASC invite all women – young, old, or in-between – who may be willing to serve the people of our community while meeting new friends, to attend the meeting in April. For more information, speak with any member you may know, or e-mail Mary Ofenloch, President of ASC, at MaryO.ASClub@nulllive.com. We will welcome you with open arms.
