Elkins Fish and Game Club Sends Nine Kids to Camp

A week each at Barry Conservation Camp

Press release

On May 6, at its regular club meeting, the Elkins Fish and Game Club awarded nine camperships to area children for summer programs at Barry Conservation Camp located at the Berlin Fish Hatchery.

Attending North Country Adventure Camp will be Sadie Barton of Andover, Isabella Anzalone of New London, Erin Wheeler of Wilmot, Chloe Midgett of Sutton, and Isaiah Hernandez of Newport. Attending Fish Camp will be John Fraioli of Wilmot and Hunter Jatko of New London. Attending Hunter Education will be Michael Fraioli of Wilmot and Jonathan Tracy of Springfield.

The club has been sending children to camp since 1993, and these nine campers bring the total sent to 115 boys and girls. Barry Conservation Camp is operated by the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Program in cooperation with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Camperships are for weeklong programs which focus on fishing, shooting sports, and hunter education. “These areas of interest fit the club’s mission, and we are delighted each year to make this significant contribution to the area’s youth,” said Mike Gelcius, club president.

On Saturday, June 27, the club will hold its second annual Lake-a-thon on Lake Sunapee, where funds are raised to help with the camperships. Visit ElkinsFishAndGame.net for more information on how you can get involved in the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta or just enjoy this year’s Lake-a-thon.
