Proctor Academy’s robotics class has utilized Proctor’s 3D printers all year as they have explored motion, mechanics, and engineering principles.

Oliver Harston ’15 took the knowledge gained in Josh Norris’ robotics class and embarked on his own Senior Project during the final three weeks of the school year. His goal was to use Proctor’s 3D printer to design each component of a DNA strand that could be assembled and disassembled by students to explore different traits.

Oliver extended the reach of his project by teaming with Mr. Murphy’s middle school science classes at AE/MS, who were studying DNA molecules this May.

Oliver and Josh delivered a gift from Proctor to AE/MS – a 3D printer! After delivering the printer, Oliver explained to the AE/MS students how he went about designing and printing his 3D DNA molecule model and then helped the students design their own printable objects.
