Summer’s here at EAVP. The school is quiet without the sounds and voices of the children, but the school staff and Board members are still working.
Building on work and fundraising done during prior playground renovation phases, we continue to make our dreams a reality for a playground full of flowers and trees that attract wildlife; raised beds that grow vegetables for the children to harvest, cook, and eat; and a child-sized orchard. A pergola over the sandbox is in the plans to provide needed shade alongside the maturing plantings.
A playground dedication will take place during a special event on a date still to be determined. Stay tuned for more of our garden story!
Inside the school, our new director, Amy Rheaume, and the teachers will continue to improve the classrooms with some fresh looks, new furnishings, and plans for the upcoming school year.
EAVP staff will be out and about in the community over the summer. Watch for our float in the Fourth of July parade, and be sure to check out the Andover Historical Society’s Old Time Fair on Sunday, August 2, where teachers will be helping out with the children’s activities.
The roots of the school are local, but our program is drawing families from a wide swath of the Andover, Salisbury, and Franklin area. We will continue with our full- and half-day program next year with a curriculum guided by the children’s ideas and questions about the world around them, as well as the structure and support to grow and learn in a school/care setting.
There are still spaces available for the 2015-2016 school year. Register your child soon, and schedule a time to stop by for a visit.
Alicia Williams, Lawre Goodnow, and Amy Rheaume, along with the Board and families, wish former director Elizabeth Janvrin and her family all the best in their move to the seacoast. Elizabeth has brought her dedication and knowledge of early childhood best practices to her work with the children. She has worked hard to know and be a member of the community. She has been so much a part of all the growing that has been happening at East Andover Village Preschool.
Amy, Alicia, and Lawre are looking forward seeing new and returning faces at the school starting on Monday, August 24.
