Home Canning & Preserving Your Harvest: The Basics of Preserving Food Safely
Wednesday, August 26, 6 to 8 PM.
Canterbury Shaker Village, 288 Shaker Road, Canterbury
Sponsored by the Concord Food Co-op
Gardens can produce an overabundance of produce at the peak of their harvest season. Preserving the overflow can help you store high-quality food for later use. Whether you’re preserving food for the first time or have many years of experience, it’s important to make sure you are using current, research-based methods, and recipes. Join UNH Cooperative Extension for a home food preservation workshop taught by Alice Mullen, UNH Cooperative Extension Food Safety Specialist. The workshop will discuss the latest research-based information on home food preservation and includes a hands-on demonstration of canning and making jam. Participants will receive a small jar of the jam to take home and enjoy. Cost: $10. for Co-op or Canterbury Shaker Village Members. Non-Members $15. Includes samples and/or take-home materials. Registration required. Nonrefundable. Small class size. To register, or for more information contact the Co-op at 603-225-6840 or concordfoodcoop.coop/classes to register on-line.
