Jennie Jones, 93, died peacefully on July 5, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Keene, she lived in New Hampshire her entire life. She spent the majority of her childhood at Highland Lake in East Andover. She frequently reminisced about her childhood antics such as riding on the ice truck helping her stepfather with deliveries.
Jennie married and had three children at an early age: Carolyn (Calley) Lunde, Constance (Calley) Wescott, and Skip Calley.
Jennie took up residence in Franklin, where she met the love of her life, Leon Jones, shortly after his return from World War II. They married on January 12, 1945, and built a house in Salisbury. They had two children together, Scot Jones and Peggy Jones.
Jenny leaves behind a long line of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Carolyn Lunde, son Scot Jones, and husband Leon Jones.
No services were held when she is interred at the Veterans Cemetery beside her husband Leon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local SPCA.
Jennie will fondly be remembered as “the Lady from Highland Lake.”
