Moving to an outdoor amphitheater in Andover Center, the Andover Community Coffeehouse will feature the Upper Valley quartet Mo’Combo as its “Third Friday” headliner on July 15. The venue is located behind Andover Town Hall (between Hamp House and the skateboard park). The concert will begin at 6:30 PM, and food will be available for purchase beginning at 6. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
The event is open to the public at no charge (although donations are always gratefully accepted). There will be no open-mic segments at this or the August concert, which will also be held in the amphitheater. Uncooperative weather moves the outdoor concerts to the Andover Elementary/Middle School gymnasium next to the amphitheater.
Said to deliver “tight percolating rhythms, tasteful instrumental interplay, improvisational journeys, and accomplished vocalists,” Mo’Combo members include Dana Flewelling of Newbury; Scott Sanborn, Orange; Skip Truman, Hanover; and Will Michaels, Lebanon. Working as a group for the past five years, they bring 120 years of combined experience to the stage. For more information, visit MoComboBand.com.
Sponsor for the evening is The Andover Beacon, whose contribution will help support renovation of the Highland Lake Grange Hall in East Andover, which houses Coffeehouse events for the remaining 10 months of the year. That venue is owned by the Andover Congregational Church.
Coming up: The Friday, August 19, coffeehouse will also be held in the outdoor amphitheater. Come and lend an ear to the Fondtones, a New London-area sextet specializing in songs of the Doo Wop era (the 1950s through 1970s, for those who weren’t there). For more information, visit Fondtones.com.
