The Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust and Ann and Marc Davis, owners of the Woods Without Gile in Springfield, will host an interpretive hike at the 475-acre easement property on Saturday, October 1 in Springfield.
The hike will step off at 10:30 AM and will be preceded at 10 AM by introductions and comments.
During the 1 ½ hour walk, see the results of active timber management, evidence of wildlife, including beaver activity, cellar holes, and stunning views with a hint of early fall color.
Tim Wallace, New Hampshire licensed forester who works with the Davises, Matt Tarr, UNH Cooperative Extension Associate Professor/specialist wildlife, Dode Gladders, UNH Cooperative Extension Forester for Sullivan County, and Andy Deegan land protection specialist for Ausbon Sargent, will lead the hike.
The easy to moderate hike is roughly two miles over undulating terrain. It has one significant hill. Please wear appropriate boots or shoes. No dogs, please.
Parking is limited, so please plan to carpool. Reaching the hike requires traveling on a Class VI road, so vehicles should have good clearance.
Refreshments will be served.
Please contact Ausbon Sargent at 526-6555 for reservations and directions to the hike.
