On June 17, Merrimack Valley High School (MVHS) had its graduation ceremonies. It turned out to be a beautiful day for the 179 graduating Seniors.
On May 18, a group of 27 MVHS seniors attended a recognition ceremony for New Hampshire Scholars at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The New Hampshire College and University Council hosted over 3,000 New Hampshire Scholars students at the Fisher Cats baseball game. Senior, Grace Montgomery, was one of the lucky three students to win a $500 scholarship at the game. This year MVHS will be recognizing 40 seniors as New Hampshire Scholars during the upcoming senior awards ceremony.
Recently, the Division II track championship was held at Kennett High School. Kristie Schofield won the 400 meter dash, while being named All-State. Additionally, Kristie was selected to compete in Seattle at the prestigious Brooks PR Invitational. This will be all expense paid experience for Kristie, and will expose her to our nation’s most elite high school track athletes. Kristie will be attending Boise State University in the fall on a full athletic scholarship. Kaitlyn Covell won the 100 meter high hurdles, while being named All-State.
The MVHS Transition Services team has recently completed a Bike Art Project, in conjunction with Ms. Cote’s art students. The project will be displayed in the traffic circle in downtown Penacook through October this year. This project would not have been possible without the generous donation of a MVHS employee who donated bike frames and bike parts, the cooperation of MVSD maintenance personnel, paint donations by Fox Hardware of Penacook, the Concord City Council, Dig Safe, Dr. Robert Gabrielli, and many others. This creative, community wide art project is sponsored by Mill Brook Gallery, as well as the Kimball Jenkins Art Gallery in Concord. Please take a look at the MVHS contribution this year Family Time, now on display within the landscaped Penacook traffic circle. Also, look for Bike Inspired Art throughout the greater Concord area from now until October.
