To help gardeners prepare for spring, the Wilmot Community Association (WCA) and the Wilmot Garden Club will host a program and workshop focusing on sustainable gardening methods.
Leon Malan, Ph.D., Colby-Sawyer College Professor of Natural and Environmental Sciences, led a session on March 25 at the WCA’s Red Barn in Wilmot.
A follow-up, hands-on workshop will be offered rain or shine from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, April 8 at the Colby-Sawyer College permaculture garden on the south end of campus (on Main Street in New London) outside of the Sustainable Classroom (building 10, see colby-sawyer.edu/pdf/campus-map.pdf).
“We are very excited to be partnering with students from Colby-Sawyer to offer this program,” said Lindy Heim, a member of the Garden Cclub. “What a great way to get our green thumbs energized and to showcase the college, which is such a wonderful resource in our region.”
The WCA, which was established in 1963, works to bring neighbors together in Wilmot by providing the facilities for educational, social and recreational activities. The garden club’s mission is to beautify the town.

Colby-Sawyer College, established in 1837, is a comprehensive baccalaureate college that integrates the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation.
