What do brains, popsicles and pet cows have in common? Join Andover Public Libraries on Wednesday June 20 at 5:30 PM at the Stone Chapel located at Proctor Academy to find out. It will be an evening for all ages to celebrate writing and reading. The libraries will kick off the summer reading program and celebrate the book release of local author, Amy Makechnie. Her debut book, The Unforgettable Guinevere St. Clair, will be released on June 12 and may just answer how brains, popsicles and pet cows are related. “Spirited and layered…Makechnie’s novel is a big-hearted adventure about coming home,” Publisher’s Weekly (April 16, 2018).
Join the Andover Public Libraries for a pizza party at 5:30 PM. At 6 PM, Amy will read excerpts from her book and share a bit about herself and her writing process. The evening will end with a time for questions. We hope this event will inspire all ages of readers and writers in our Andover community to write their stories and read those of others. According to author Philip Pullman, “after nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the things we need most in the world.” Amy’s books will be available for sale at the event. Proctor Academy request that participants park on the street, near Maxwell Savage Hall, behind the Stone Chapel or in the lower Proctor parking lot; please do not park on the driveway around the green.
